A lot of life situations give you these two choices: You can choose to get better or you can choose to get bitter. I like to talk about things that everyone is going through but no one actually talks about. It’s what connects us on a spiritual level. Whether it’s heart break, chronic pain, an illness, depression, anxiety, a betrayal of trust or any life altering event (big or small), we’ve all been there. “Life is hard but you’re harder, faster, stronger.” It’s a message you will hear from our VIBE instructors, not just from Kanye, in one variation or another.
Personally, I live with chronic pain. I’ve dealt with all of those things listed and still deal with them, but chronic pain leading to depression seems to be my biggest battle. The word endorphins is often thrown around when working out. They are chemicals released in the brain that trigger “a positive feeling in the body, similar to that of morphine,” according to WebMD. That VIBE high is the real deal! It helps me deal with my chronic pain and keeps my heart healthy in a way that is easy on my joints.
Unfortunately, I can’t run anymore but my Neurologist approved of spinning! There are lots of articles and research done on how exercise isn’t just good for your body but good for your brain too — in my case it helps me have more control over the physical AND mental pain in my brain. Like I said I’m not a doctor, but I know that the best thing I can do is communicate with them and ask them for ways, other than pain medications, to help me live my best and fullest life. I recommend you do the same thing. There might not be a cure for your chronic pain, like what I’m dealing with, but there are ways you can take back control over your life —mind & body. VIBE was a huge driving factor in helping me to take back the reigns of my life and could do the same thing for you.
You can choose to get better or you can choose to get bitter. I chose to get better and I hope you do, too.
