When I spin, I feel like I’m on top of the world. Instead of getting a runner’s high, I get a spinner’s high -a VIBE high. That rush is addictive, spinning has helped me stay in shape, and my heart is in the best shape it’s ever been. After my accident, I never thought I would be able to get the cardio and physical activity I need, but VIBE proved me wrong. However, I’m only human and I have my good days and my bad days (that sometimes turns into a week). We all have those days and it’s perfectly normal. Just because you have a bad day doesn’t mean you have a bad life.
I really love that saying. When I catch myself slipping into one of those moods where it feels like everything sucks, I think about that. It helps to keep me focused on not beating myself up and to get back up when I fall down. On those bad days it’s particularly hard to get out of bed and get myself to the VIBE studio. There are definitely days when I need to rest and recharge, but on the days when I’m on the fence about how I feel, I have to talk myself into getting to class. There is never a day when I regret going to class, but not everyday is going to be the same. Your body is always fluctuating and being in tune with it is important. Listening to what you need and when you need it is so important. It’s a huge component of what it means to find YOUR VIBE. When I started taking classes at VIBE I was really nervous that I wouldn’t be able to keep up with everyone. From day one, that has NEVER been a problem.
The instructors at VIBE really push modifications and doing what is best for your body. Resistance is a huge driving factor in class. When an instructor tells you to turn on the resistance or take turns off, it’s an option. As you begin your VIBE journey you will come to find what is best for YOU. You will always get the VIBE high, but depending on how your body is feeling that day, you might need more resistance than the instructor suggests or you might need less. As Andrea said in class yesterday, “You do you!” Every instructor will say some variation of that, but it’s all about making you feel comfortable in knowing that no one is judging you. They will always encourage you to go farther than you have been before, but only when YOU are ready.
To find YOUR VIBE, you do YOU.
