I believe 100% in setting goals, having inspirations and working everyday to be your most badass authentic self. But I don’t believe you need a new year to do that.
Coming up on the end of January I wanted to offer you some insight on why you should instead be true to YOURSELF instead of putting the pressure of a “New Year, New You”.
If you’ve ever noticed at VIBE we don’t talk about weight and we don’t have monitors on our bikes. ( of course BOTH of these are totally fine to discuss / have but this was a personal choice on who we are in the community and what we believe in)
The most common New Years resolution is “losing weight”. During the new year gym memberships spike to an all time high and then BOOM a month later you can go back to parking in your favorite spot because the lot is now practically empty. Let me convince you why this WON’T be you this year.
This year you are going to workout because you want to FEEL good. Of course we all want to look our best but I can promise you that the number on the scale will never define you. It will never bring you the happiness and joy that you think it will. What will define you is the way you FEEL.
If you had a rough day and STILL decided to
show up for class, do you really need a monitor to tell you that you weren’t exactly where you were “supposed” to be? That last class you burned more calories which doesn’t help because today you didn’t have a salad for lunch. And honestly today you felt like you crushed it. Do we really need MORE pressure to be in a certain place?
Workout for your sanity. We are always telling our clients to let it all go. Breathe deep, fresh air into your lungs and as you exhale let whatever didn’t serve you in that day or moment GO. Leave it all on that bike. Walk away with a clear head and a clear heart.
We already hold enough expectations for ourselves. The pressure to do it all and have it all is at an all time high. But here’s a little secret. NOBODY has it all & NOBODY can do it all. PLEASE never feel less worthy then another human being.
Choose a tribe with people who will relate to you. The ones that get down to your level without worrying about their own. Ones who share their strengths in your struggle. And remember to give them back your strengths when they are in their struggle.
We should be living the way we WANT to which means most of these things will come naturally. I believe the new year can offer a fresh insight on what the next year will bring you. But most importantly what do you actually WANT it to bring you? Go there.
